What if bath time could be the first baby step in your bub's aquatic journey?

Turn bath time into baby’s first swim lesson!!

You don't have to wait until your baby is old enough for swimming lessons to start getting them comfortable and familiar with water.

Make water safety part of your everyday routine.

 Baby bath time routine ideas

I created these Baby Bathtime Routine Visuals because bathtime is already happening, so why not turn a few minutes of everyday splashing into simple opportunities to introduce water confidence, movement and early aquatic skills?

When you're tired, busy and suffering from the legendary parent brain fog, you don't need another complicated program to remember. Just look at the cards and follow along.

A little water learning every bathtime

The printable, downloadable PDF gives you easy-to-follow visual cards to keep beside the bath or stick on the tiles, helping you introduce simple skills and routines one little step at a time.

  • 9 colourful visual cards designed for babies and toddlers
  • Simple activities for water confidence, movement and body awareness
  • Visual reminders for parents, carers and grandparents (no jargon or complicated instructions)
  • Easy to print, laminate and keep beside the bath
  • Use the same visuals repeatedly so skills become familiar
  • As your baby grows, take the ideas into the pool and build on what they already know

Why start at bathtime?

The bath is warm, familiar, predictable and one-on-one.

That makes it a lovely place to begin introducing your little one to positive experiences with water before they're faced with a noisy, busy swimming pool.

And it doesn't need to be a “lesson”. It might be a little movement, familiar cues, a new body position or a playful song.

Small experiences, repeated often, become familiar skills.

For parents who want to start, but aren't ready for lessons yet

Swimming lessons can be expensive, and babies aren't always ready to join a formal program straight away.

These visuals give you an affordable way to start building positive water experiences at home, while you're waiting for the right time to introduce your baby to formal aquatic education.

They can also be a handy resource for swim teachers to recommend to parents who want simple things to practise between lessons at home.

The idea behind these visuals

I wanted to make something easy enough to actually use when you're tired.

Something you can print, stick near the bath and glance at when you're wondering, “What can I do with bub today?”

Your baby's aquatic journey doesn't have to begin on the first day of swimming lessons. It can begin at home at bath time.

Download the Baby Bathtime Routine Visuals, print them and have them ready for your next bathtime.

Always supervise your baby closely around water and stay within arm's reach. These visuals are for gentle, age-appropriate water familiarisation and play, not a substitute for active supervision or formal swimming and water-safety instruction.
