Pool Scavenger Hunts
The Pool Scavenger Hunts for Nervous & Beginner Swimmers
For parents and swim instructors looking for a fun way to help children feel more comfortable around the pool and water before or during their first swimming lesson.
A simple pool scavenger hunt that turns exploring the pool into a fun first step towards feeling more familiar and confident in the water.
If your child is nervous about their first swimming lesson, unsure about going into a new pool, or simply needs a little encouragement to explore the water, sometimes the best place to start isn't with swimming it's with playing and exploring.
I've created these Pool Scavenger Hunts to give children something fun to focus on while they become familiar with their surroundings, notice important pool features and try simple water activities at their own pace.
Unlike a traditional scavenger hunt, these activities include both things to find and simple water activities to try. They encourage children to explore their aquatic environment while gradually becoming more comfortable with being around and in the water.

🔎 Things to find around the pool
🛟 Pool safety features to recognise
💦 Simple water activities to try
Why I created it
When a child is nervous around water, being told to “just get in and swim” isn't always the best starting point.
Giving them a reason to look around, play, notice things and take part in simple activities can make the pool feel like a much more familiar place.
That's the idea behind these scavenger hunts.
They're not a swimming lesson and they aren't designed to replace one. They're a fun way to introduce children to the aquatic environment and give them opportunities to explore the pool and water without making swimming the whole focus.
Great for:
💦Children nervous about their first swimming lesson
💦Beginner swimmers becoming familiar with the pool environment
💦Parents looking for a fun pool activity
💦Swim instructors introducing young swimmers to a new pool
💦Backyard pool days
💦Kids' pool parties
Download, print and take your scavenger hunt to the pool.
A few dollars gets you three ready-to-use activities that can turn your next pool visit into an opportunity to explore, play and become a little more comfortable around the water.
